BIO

Dariusz Jemielniak is a professor of management, head of the Center for Research on Organizations and Workplaces (CROW), and founder of the New Research on Digital Societies (NeRDS) group at Kozminski University. He is also an affiliated faculty member at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University.

His research interests focus on critical management studies of open collaboration projects (such as Wikipedia or F/LOSS), narrativity, storytelling, knowledge-intensive organizations, virtual communities, and organizational archetypes, all examined using interpretive and qualitative methods. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation, vice-chairman of the Supervisory Board of Escola S.A., and since 2022 has served as Vice President of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

For over a decade, Prof. Dariusz Jemielniak has been studying how online communities create knowledge on the internet. As a member of the Supervisory Board of the U.S.-based Wikimedia Foundation, he actively combats disinformation on a global scale within the world’s most popular knowledge repository. As a researcher, he leads the prestigious Maestro grant, under which he develops disinformation detection tools and analyzes disinformation networks. In recent months, he has also been engaged in identifying Russian trolls using his proprietary Thick Big Data methods.
